It was such an awesome movie. But it is a "guy" movie. So unless your not really into cool "get ready - slow mo - slash" scenes (which were most of the fight scenes), then you probably won't like this movie. The dialogue imo was pointless and very boring. The only interesting part of the dialogue was between the queen and (don't even remember his name) the politician traitor guy and the preceeding events.

Despite all of that, it was a very good movie. I enjoyed all the stabbing and my friends gave me weird looks everytime they would behead someone because I would start laughing so much. xD

It was interesting to see the backlash for this movie as well. The Iranian government calls it blasphemy with it’s portrayal of the Persian Empire It’s true at times that sometimes stereotypical action movie, follows a line to draw the enemies into twisted evil looking bad guys. However it is a stylized for that; so it’s a bit late to complain about it now when it’s been around for years now (as a graphic novel).

I saw it and it made me want to run out of the theater and beat someone up. It's basically steroids in movie form. I <3 it.

And BTW, where did you download it, Arkantos? I'm gonna have to get it onto some DVD's and sell some.

Not sure why people are so deliriously joyful over it.
For the same reason that the people in my state romanticize the battle of the Alamo. I think I'll be seeing 300 sometime over the weekend.

A graphic novel has A LOT less presence than a hyped multi-million dollar movie. I understand the Iranians for the depiction of the Persians is quite gross and disrespectful.

People seem to forget that a narrow pass where only 2 chariots can barely pass is not hard to defend with a highly-trained core of 300 Spartans and 700 Thespians (not to mention the others). Now neither were there 2 Million Persians nor were the Spartans a symbol of freedom for they lived and fed on extreme slave labory. So much for democracy.

The Persians actually had the best mathematical and logistical system to manouver several dozens of various ethnic (some of them were bitter enemies to each other) than any other empire ever seen on this earth. Now the Immortals might have been a rather laughable size compared to the cheap levies, but they were in one hell of a shape.

The depiction of Germans in WW2-movies is a lot humbler (still a mockery) since we're more important to the Yanks, however we will be back and have our own Reichspropaganda movies. ;-)

Halo + 300

i like it.

But i prefer you know...the History Channel to Spike TV, so the fictionalization irks me a little.

The Battle of Thermopylae was only PART of a land/sea campaign by the Greeks....nobody ever cares about the Persian navy VS the Greek navy....

This movie didn't diserve these amazing slow motion battle scenes. I guess they kinda overdid it with the blood, and the stunt men weren't all that convincing, but I guess that's how movies are, and it didn't ruin the effect. The story was kind off cheap, the script didn't amaze me either and switching from the Spartan army to the Spartans at home really annoyed me.

I give the two battle scenes a well diserved 10, but the entire movie is barely worth a 6.

I read different reviews that the movie is only great because of the action scenes. Without it, the plot wouldn't held any interest nor make the movie great.

I enjoyed it. The thing you have to keep in mind is that the movie is just a small section of much larger things that were happening at the time, and wasn't designed to be an exactingly accurate history lesson

There was no uber immortals (those inhuman looking beast) back when the real battle took place. Also from historic view, the movie was missing out on the sea battle that the Spartan had with the Persians.

The movie was fantastic, I loved the slow-mo segments, and the story was great. I enjoyed the various characters they had on both sides of the war, not one of them bored me. And although they didn't include the almost 1,000 herots (slaves) that fought alongside the Spartans, the basic historical facts were kept intact. Very enjoyable. My wife and myself give it two thumbs up!
